Around the castle
![]() |
The castle mound stands in a hidden place in the city, totally surrounded by buildings. When standing at the crossing of the two Rhine arms, it is hard to imagine that right behind the stores, there is a castle. You enter the castle square through a 17th century gate, designed by the famous Jacob van Campen, who also designed Amsterdam's royal palace. On the square, the coach house is the only remaining of the dwellings of the vicounts. If you want to see more of Leiden, click here. |
