The castle

The ring-wall on top of the mound is the castle itself, sometimes wrongly referred to as fortress. It is a simple structure in brick and stone, laid in so called bacon-layers. The small door on the present back side was originally the only entrance; in the 17th century a larger and more decorated door was created on what is now the front side. Around this door are the coats of arm of the vicounts of the castle, who lived in a house on the castle square.
